If you are reading this, is it probably because you have seen me throwing it out there, like casting a net.
It’s simple, really. The Second Amendment is under attack. Some of this attack is done ignorantly, due to high emotion and hyper-activism for the sake of simply “doing something”. Ignorantly in a very real sense of the word. Some of it is purposed, however, and planned. Look to DC and Hartford.
There are too many grassroots organizations springing up all about us, especially here in CT, that are a direct response to the Sandy Hook shootings. These people have good intentions, and they hate feeling powerless inn the face of such tragedy. However, they are pushing ahead too fast and with no guidance.
I started this WR2A to counter these new “accidental activists”. I will not sit idly by while they attack The Second Amendment and seek to bridle it with the actions of madmen and criminals.
There is much work to be done, to be sure. I am looking for interested participants who would walk with me in this endeavor.
Simple as that.
I’m not looking to get into shouting matches with the gun-control crowd. I’m not interested in the GOP, the Democrats, or any political parties. I’m not interested in the NRA, (since they have their own thing right now), and I am not interested in vainglory. I merely want us to be the ones who stand up and refuse to bend to the demands of a crowd who probably doesn’t even know The Second Amendment aside from what they vaguely remember from elementary school. These are the people who are demanding our legislators take action and just “do something” right now, today, right now, this moment, right now! I completely disagree with that approach.
Leave a comment if you are interested. And there it is.
Seems a Columbine survivor, someone with more experiential authority, has written an open letter to President Obama regarding gun control:

Thomas,
Thank you for this linkage and for being a reasonable voice amidst the cacophony of screaming. You have my respect and admiration, sir.
I’m with you and agree with what you have wrote
Thank you, sir. I am pleased to see you have exercised bravery and visited this humble site. Bravo to you. We have much work to carry out, to be sure.
Donald, thanks for providing the link (on Patch). it is critically important that we take up this fight.
brutus,
It’s disappointing we have to have this fight at all, isn’t it? I ne’er thought I’d see the day when I would be defending our Bil of Rights against other Americans. Thanks for coming by and making yourself known.
Donald, terrific comments left on the Patch and here. I feel the best we can hope for is the Legislature wait for an actual Police Report from Lt. Vance that shows most (all) of these knee-jerk reactionary activists will see additional laws would have made no difference in damage. Keep fighting the fight and know, many Newtoners are behind you.
Joe,
Thank you for the kind words. I have been encouraged by them. I am appreciative that many Newtowners are behind me on this. That’s a good start. I hope to see you around here again, Joe.
